  Wakatipu Business Development Manager

 He mihi kia koutou
Well whanau after an absence of 10 years I have returned back to my first passion working with Iwi, its all about ahi ka returning back to what gives meaning and purpose to your life.

Twenty years ago I started my journey in whanau ora working for Awarua Social and Health Services, first as a whanau worker then as Manager, 10 years in total. Following on from there I decided to cross over to the area of mental health and was the Manager of PACT Southland a provider of residential and community support services. Two years later I changed my focus from personal health to public health and worked for Public Health South in the areas of mental health, suicide prevention, health promoting schools and social environments. I enjoyed my varied roles and the people I worked with at Public Health South but when I was offered a dream opportunity to help develop services in the Wakatipu it was an offer that you couldn’t turn down.

On May 3rd a grey wet Monday morning I started in my new position as Wakatipu Business Development Manager. By Tuesday I was up in the Wakatipu meeting the small but awesome team of Alesha and Hayley.

I plan to split my time between Wakatipu and the Victoria Avenue NKMP sites. The next few months will be full on with orientation to a new organization, a new role, and new community and producing key strategic documents that will identify gaps and map out future service development opportunities.

Besides this very full but exciting work load I will endeavor to find a balance “Te Whare Tapa Wha” by using my time wisely to ensure I eat, sleep, exercise and spend as much time as possible with those I love and who inspire me.
