Te Koawa Turoa o Takitimu (The long Valley of Takitimu) is managed by Kai Tahu, the indigenous people of the area. The property is situated at the base of the Takitimu mountain range. Te Koawa Turoa o Takitimu is a 445ha property located 1.5hrs from Invercargill along the scenic route of Te Anau and Manapouri. The site has a diversity of Mahika Kai values, plants, wildlife and fisheries and represents a resource that can be used to further peoples knowledge of Mahika Kai values (producing and procuring food).
Te Koawa Turoa o Takitimu is available for hui, conferences, school camps, wananga, social gatherings, backpackers and campers. We offer bunk room accommodation that sleeps up to 20 people and marae style for up to 10 people as well as separate shower block for men and women. You can choose to self cater with our full kitchen facilities or we can meet your catering needs. There is a large dining room and separate conference room that can seat up to 30 people.
